Well we had a great trip down to sunset bay stayed in a yurt down there for a few days with my wife and son we all got out and caught some fish and 12 crab very nice wether the ocean had a little roll going but over all very nice. I want to thank you all for the advise. I can't wait to get back out.

excellent, nice looking crabs.  were the fish all Blacks?   

did you make sure and drop your crab pots south of Norton Gulch in 'Area B'?  cheers, roger

Yes sir all blacks and they made amazing taco meat. No I just drop pots out front past the second bay. Should I have dropped south of  Norton Gulch what is Area B??

for sure, we grilled the ones that I caught Thursday in Coos Bay, near the green A7 marker, great tacos and the extra went into 'jig and dig' chowder today (rockfish and razors).

info for future trips-  just off Sunset bay is a no shellfish area, Area A, and near the south end of the second bay at a place called Norton Gulch starts Area B where you can crab and dive for other stuff all the way south to Simpson Reef.  It's the "Cape Arago Research Reserve", no fishing restrictions, but one of those "oh crap, I didn't know that" areas for other tasty stuff...cheers, roger

it isn't great right at Florence and isn't open here right now, but not far north of Heceta Head, where it is open, I have dug a limit the last 2 mornings, going after one more limit tomorrow so we have enough to can...
