Hello, thanks for the pleasure of letting me be a member of this great forum that I have lurked on for sometime. I hope to learn more than I already have and also eventually be a contributor. I moved to Camas almost a year ago and have gone fish crazy. I'm from the very arid desert of southern New Mexico and grew up fishing for trout in the mountain streams that were hundreds of miles away. But we loved it and looked forward to our 1 or 2 fishing trips a year. So the incredible amount of fishing opportunities here are overwhelming to say the least. The fact that I can WALK down the street and go fishing anytime I want still makes me grin. Anyway...I bought a 2016 Hobie Outback. And I'm going to appreciate all the help and advice I can get in regards to fishing, kayaking and not drowning. Thanks in advance.
Sunny

Welcome to the PNW where fishing is the way of life for many up here.

What on earth pulled you to the Camass area?   I lived in Camass until the end of 2nd grade and moved to Washougal for 3rd grade till end of college.  Then moved away from that gnarly Camass smell.  My dad retired from the Camass paper mill after 35 years and then moved to get away from the smell.

Again, welcome to the PNW, you'll love all the fish species you can target, as well as seafood on the coast.

See you on the water.

Family in Portland and the beautiful weather brought us here. We live west of the mill so we don't smell it unless we drive into downtown which is not very often. And they say that the smell is just a fraction of what it used to be. Anyway we wanted to be within a short drive of north portland yet still be close to wilderness. We are not married to this place where else would you suggest a family with a middle schooler live?

Hi again Sunny.  I talked to you a little on the Facebook group.  I was the other guy from NM.  😎   Hopefully we can meet up out on the water sometime.  Welcome to the addiction!
