Hi,
Thanks to the Admins of this site. Appreciate the effort it takes.

Hello to all.  New to kayaking and kayak fishing. In my 50's and live in Renton Wa.  This looks like a good place to get advise and learn a few things.

So here's my first question. I would like to fish the sound at some point for Lings and Salmon.
Wet suit or Dry suit???  I'm short and stocky so finding either is difficult.  is 3mm enough for a wet suit? Is it comfortable? (Use to dive in my younger days so know 6mm  could be snug when not in the water.)  Is there a way to find a dry suit for under $300 and can they be tailored (previously used is ok)

 Thanks in advance.

My wife got hers new and had it tailored by the manufacturer. You might check with the shops that sell them to see what would be involved.

Do you think you might be comfortable in a 3mm wet suit on a 60 minute dive in the waters around here?   I know I wouldn't.   For me, a 3mm is OK for 70 degree water if I'm not doing repeat dives, but then I don't like the feel of shivering with a regulator in my teeth.

Thanks I'll do that!

My wetsuit is a 3-4 mil and I don't feel cold in the water but I tend to run on the warmer side so cold doesn't really bother me, although hypothermia would. If you can play on the beach in the water for an hour or so in shorts without getting cold legs 3-4 should be fine.
