In the past, Wheeleez wheels seem to have been the best choice for moving kayaks over dry sand.  Has anybody used the C-Tug Sandtrakz wheels? How do they compare in rolling resistance and durability to Wheeleez wheels? Do they pick up a lot of sand and muck in the cells in the wheels?

Sorry Pete, while I'm a C Tug owner I've no experience with the larger sand wheels. I know that the owners of the Wheelez beach tires are usually very happy with them

Hope some one chimes in that can help you

I just got a ctug yesterday but it has the inflatable tires as we only have a few Sandy beaches here and the sand is usually hard packed. I'd be interested to see if they worked ok over rocks and barnacles

You guys talking about the hard plastic wheels with the solid rubber for tread?

Here's a link to the manufacturer's description of the Sandtrakz wheels: https://www.c-tug.com/products/sandtrakz/ . They're larger in diameter than the standard C-Tug wheels, and have two concentric plastic rings connected by ribs which compress under pressure, creating a longer footprint which is in contact with the sand than a rigid wheel of the same diameter.  The price of a C-Tug trailer with Sandtrakz wheels isn't much less than the cost of a Hobie scupper cart with Wheeleez wheels.  I'm wondering how the performance of the wheels on dry sand compares.

All of the "review" videos I have found on these wheels are just demonstrations from retailers. I'm sure there are unbiased reviews out there, but I haven't found them yet. This one has been the most entertaining.

They do seem to work, but I don't think they'll ever be a match for wheeleez. Even if they're equal in every other way, wheeleez are a pneumatic tire, which means they are adjustable.

After hauling my Thresher 140 through some soft sand, I'm definitely interested in reading some reviews not sponsored by c-tug / railblaza. I am also dismayed as I didn't realize that I broke the kickstand last time I was out and it got stuck on some rocks. :-\

I've got a pair of Sandtrakz which I used several times over the summer. I do find them significantly easier than ctugs previous wheels. I have a  scupper cart with smaller wheeleze tires which I haven't used for a couple of years because the frame broke. I would give the Sandtrakz a thumbs up.
