Welcome and have a happy Independence Day. From your location, I'm assuming you're one of our growing Alaska contingent. There are a lot of very enthusiastic kayak fishermen there to help you out.

Welcome!  Love to see the AK Crew growing!

Between work and other obligations, I am not getting out much but plan to change that here soon. Lots of good info here.  Don't be afraid to ask any questions!

Hope to see you on the water!

Thank you both for the welcome! I hope you guys are enjoying the 4th! Hopefully by next year I will get this fishing off the kayak thing figured out and be ready to try for a halibut! Still working out the basics in the Mat-su valley lakes right now. I have  an ocean kayak paddle kayak right now, but I can see from watching some of Rudy's videos on YouTube that if you want to play on bigger water- especially ice cold water with strong currents- a pedal kayak is Much better. I have still been having a lot of fun on mine though. I have caught several rainbows and last fall I caught a silver in rabbit slough! what a hoot!

I LOVE my Hobie.  but especially for halibut, a paddle kayak is more than plenty. Halibut fishing is good through September.  let's get out.  if you have a drysuit, you'll be fine. if not, you can still come out with some experienced folks as wel and you will be ok.

let's fish!!!

Thanks Rudy!
I just got my drysuit yesterday and I am going to practice reentry this afternoon! I would love to go fishing with you as soon as possible. Heading out of state though from the 18th -24th. When do you plan to go down?
