Dannybay and I are heading over the hill on Friday to fish Lake Billy Chinook for 10 days or so. Bass fishing around us has been a little slow and so we figured we head over the hill to see how fishing is doing where it's a little warmer.
I'm going to stick to bass fishing and I'm not sure what dannybay is going to target but I'm sure the truck and trailer will be full of poles, reels and various bait apparatus.
If anyone has any suggestions, we'd love to hear it.

You may try Prineville Reservoir too? My son and I fished it for a few hours on Saturday and it was decent. Think Senko or crawfish crankbaits.

I have done well for Kokanee in the Deschutes arm right by the launch.   Early in the morning they were hitting pink jigs on the surface, Later in the day I trolled with a downrigger.  There are bull trout in there too.

We had a blast! We camped in the Deschutes campground.  We hit up the Deschutes arm and Crooked River arm twice.  Made it up to the dam and didn't go into the Metolius.  We even headed down to Prineville for a day and fished around the island and up the north end.  Dannybay fished for probably 10 hours every day.  I had to take two days out of 11 off.  My bottom just couldn't take sitting in the kayak 10-11 hours a day like Dannybay!.  We caught browns, bulls, small mouth, pike minnow, kokanee and rainbows.  Fishing heaven.
We definitely want to spend two weeks exploring Prineville next year.
I also got stupid and was kneeling in my Hobie when some boat wash tipped me over.  My first instinct was to hold onto the boat which made it flip over nice and easy.  I should have just jumped overboard.  I only lost my mighty mite pole (2 ft) and a homemade rod holder that wasn't tied down. All other poles and gear stayed put. I couldn't flip the kayak over without getting closer to shore but once I righted the kayak, I figured I should try and practice getting back in the kayak without assistance from the rocks on shore.  Well......  I couldn't do it.  First try, I flipped my waterproof phone straight out of the kayak. (PFD hooked on it in my side pocket).  Stupid phone stayed in the boat the whole time the boat was upside down and I was pushing it to shore.  Then I tried a couple more times to get back in the kayak and I just can't get my chest over the edge.  Dannybay freaked a little when he rounded the corner and saw me in the water and my boat upside down but I assured him I was fine so he watched while I tried and tried to get back in my boat.  I finally just used a rock as a leg up to get back into my kayak.  Now I have to get a rope ladder to hang on my kayak just in case I make another unexpected swim.
Thanks for the tips on how to fish the area.  It sure worked!!

Good report.  You need to look into one of these or make one of your own.  http://www.kayakselfrescueladder.com/
I never leave home without it.  I'd never be able to get back in my Outback without it.

Don't know how I missed this - thanks for the report. Sounds like an awesome time fishing. I'm looking forward to doing some central Oregon fishing again soon.
