If you get your license before the end of the year make sure that hold onto your 2011 license until the end of the year. The clerk at Dick's said that I needed to  have my 2011 license on me to fish for the rest of the year. I am not sure if this is true or not but I would not want to take the chance. Not sure if I will, but I am hoping to get out one more time next week.

For those of you who may need to, do not forget to buy your invasive species tag. I bought a red one this year and it is good through 2012, but I am sure
there are plenty of folks who are due for a new one this year.

I am going to get my sports pac soon.  They come with Angling, Hunting, Shellfish License, a Combined Angling Harvest Tag, a Validation for Upland Bird and Waterfowl hunting, a General or Controlled Buck Deer, General or Controlled Elk, General Cougar, General or Controlled Bear and Spring Turkey. In 2012 they made it so any hunting license, including the sports pac comes with a parking pass for Sauvies Island and other wildlife parking areas.

Given the amount of fish I actually caught and brought home last year to eat, it would have been cheaper to get it from the local fish monger.  Hopefully my 2012 license will be more cost effective for me.

Would it have been as fun to visit the fish monger?

   Is a "sports pack" available for non-residents ? I didn't see that option on OF&W website....thanks

I ordered on line  my 2012 annual angling license, combined angling  tag , two rod license + the aquatic invasive species prevent tag.
I printed the information that has the 10 day temporary license + invasive species tag while waiting for the actual tags to arrive by US Mail.
A word to the wise........what does not come in the mail from  ODFW is a waterproof paper invasive tag like all of the other licenses.......you are supposed to use the one printed on line.
My feeling is this is very short sighted by ODFW as the printed tag is not waterproof.......I ended up laminating my invasive  tag as we all know stuff can get wet inside a kayak.....my 2 cents worth. :banjo:

I like that it is something you can print and use even though it is not waterproof.  You can print it and make several copies in case you loose it.  I had my wallet and licenses stolen last August.  I had to re-buy everything .  The invasive species tag had no discount to replace it like the other licenses.  I plan to keep a copy in my glove compartment in case I something happens to the first.  I wish the fishing licenses were this way.  Other states make it so you can reprint them if you loose them.

On thing interesting with ordering an invasive species permit from the Oregon marine board, other than you do not pay the 40% surcharge ($2), is that they do not put a name or address on the tag and they do not ask about residency.  As an out of stater, I would order one from here:

http://www.boatoregon.com/OSMB/Clean/docs/2012AISPTyvekOrderForm.pdf

They are transferable so one of your Washington buddies could probably borrow it if heading to Oregon on a different day than the purchaser.

Oops! just saw this:

Out-of-state permits will not be sold through boat registration agents or the Oregon State Marine Board.

I have ordered an extra if anyone needs to borrow it if they come down here for the ORC, etc...

If it wasn't for flashbacks, I'd have no memories at all.

Crazy eyes,
take a good look at your WA. State license and associated fees this year. they go up.

don't forget to factor in the two rod endorsement and the Columbia river use tax

then, add on the $42.00 total charges for the Discovery pass tax. which if you don;t get, will cost you another $99.00 in fines if you go near a State Park or WDFW managed boat launch and don't have it.

Oregon is starting to look really reasonable with their fees.

I noticed that when I bought online today.  Firebunker, unless you intend to hunt big game, just egt the fishing license.  If you want to hunt birds as well as fish, get the combo.  I got the combo and the shellfish license:

Sometimes, especially when I've got 400lbs of coho coming off a truck... or 300lbs of dungies to clean... the real fun is before the doors open though....
