Hi Guys!  :) I probably go on vacation soon for aprrox. 1 week and I want to spend that time for kayak fishing in our state and probably get some records for AOTY. I definitely want to go to Deception Pass for 1 day, to Westport for 1 day. So I still have kinda 3-5 days without any plans. I am interested in nice places in 2-3 hrs drive range from Seattle. Any suggestions? Saltwater is preffered, freshwater is ok also, fish doesn't matter! Thank you in advance! :)

You might want to consider Lake Wenatchee for Sockeye Salmon.  They opened the lake for fishing about a week ago and there are a lot of reports of boats taking their limit of 6 fish.  Most fish are reported to be at a depth of 50' to 70' so a downrigger is beneficial.

Currents around Deception Pass can really rip.  You won't want to fish the pass itself.  There will eventually be salmon in there, but forget about bottom fish.  Other than cabezon and maybe flounder nothing is open.  That said, there is a good place to launch at Rosario Beach.  It's fairly protected there and close enough to give good access to fish heading through the pass.

Westport is good for a variety of bottom fish.  Salmon also depending on the time frame.

Remind me what your saltwater experience is?  There are some good areas along the coast if you're up for surf launches/landings.  But if you're still a newbie to the salt I can't recommend you try that without an experienced friend going along with you.

If you have a downrigger (or you're willing to experiment with jigging) I'd try Lake Chelan for the mackinaw/lake trout.  Might be a bit more than 3 hours though.

Wrenchman - thank you a lot! I definitely should consider Wenachtee, I know this lake it is nice and not far to drive, I have been out there last year.

sumpNZ - thank you! I am pretty familiar with Deception Pass and Westport. I know some safe launches out there and where to fish for bottom fish (cabezon, greenling, flounder, dogs). Also I think about trying to catch some herring or other forage. About surf - for me probably better choice is to avoid it for now, coz I do not have enough experience and I do not know how to use marine radio and I do not have even a downriger). And thank you for Chelah - I will check it out!
