Lol well i went to the store today determined to at least buy waders...so i am sitting at joes trying on the waders and i run into a problem...medium is to small in the body for me i can get it on but it is tight but the feet are just right....the large was maybe just a tad to big in the body but would work better but the feet were freakin huge...anybody run into this problem? if so what did you do?

so anyways i come back home and load up the boat...noaa says southeasterly winds 10-15 1 to 3 foot wind waves (i think i can't remember the winds but i know it was 1 to 3 foot wind waves) so im thinking ok 1 to 3 foot i can handle that...i get out there and its looking pretty ruff and i am debating to go out or not....so i call my landlord and tell him if im not back by dark send the search party lol...so i get into the water about 5:30pm and start heading south from the vashon ferry...its a little choppy but no big deal im still staying dry....i get to a point and the waves are at my back along with the wind coming into the shore at an angle....ive come to the conclusion that i don't like points lol....if there is 1 to 3 foot waves in the open i found out there is gonna be 3-4 ft waves in ever direction at a point....so i get past that point relatively unscathed and move to another point...this one is worse and the shore...for watever reason i decided to stop pedaling and save my legs for the ride back against the wind and waves BAD IDEA LOL....i pull the paddle out and try to go through this chop at the point came very close to flipping because the waves come from every direction so i couldn't stay straight and the wind and current was taking me towards the rocks...eventually i said screw the paddle and started pedaling again got past that then i decided shortly after that it was probably time to turn around....the waves seemed bigger on the way back...i got pretty wet a few times because waves overtook the boat...i was hitting them to straight i think....anyways i made it back to the ferry dock and pedaled around there for about 15 minutes watchin the ferrys and the birds pickin minnows out of the water around me...i didn't take my fishing pole because i don't trust my boating skills enough yet to multitask lol

so then i decided after going through that i should try a self rescue so i went to shore and took everything out of the boat including the mirage drive and put it on shore along with my shirt and jacket so i would still have dry clothes after the dunk....paddled out to deep water and flipped it...well first i side straddled it a few different ways and got acquainted with how stable the boat was and which ways i could safely rock it and wat not....i was very surprised at how easy it was to do a re-entry...now this is with only a paddle though if i had rods dangling from leashes and a mirage drive it may be a little harder....but i am really pleased with the way the boat took the waves and the stability of the boat...i feel like i can side straddle and move around on the boat quite a bit without tipping it...also even after several waves splashing over, flipping the boat, and roughly an hour and a half of pedaling and paddling around there was virtually no water in the hull...it was damp at most

there was water in the seat area and cup holder...seat area i could drain cup holder i couldn't lol

so all and all i at least learned a lot about the boat today....by the way if you pedal as hard as you can that thing will get up and go i can only imagine with turbo fins wat it would do...the good thing is my cart and rod holders and mysterious set should be here no later than Wednesday so i will be going out again...maybe with a rod this time :)

Cool deal YN. good job getting out and doing some self rescue. Sounds like your getting more comfortable with it, knowing the actual tipping point is a good thing..

The cupholder reservoir is a little annoying, if it bugs you too much, just take a sponge to soak up unwanted fluids. and stash it were you can get to it and you won't lose it in the hold or overboard..

Wait till you hook your first fish...my first yak fish was a 5 inch perch and it was actually exciting...But that wears off, then you need poundage!!  ;)

Good on you!  It was really rough over here (Vashon) with the north wind.  If you can handle yesterday's chop, you're set for about anything.  And the drive with Turbo fins is much more powerful, you can  get up on  plane....well, not really.  But it seems like it, compared to the stock fins.

It really feels like it's planing...The Outback throws a pretty good wake. Have you got the oversized rudder too Kalli? the bigger rudder is way more performance then i realized it would be, it rocks.

Those are good early upgrades to go for YN. Makes it like a whole new HiPo Hobie...

well i took it out again today...i got my mini wheeleez and mysterioso set in so i thought i would test it out...first off i put the kayak on the cart and wheel it down to the water....and when i say down i mean down from my house it is all steep down hill....get it ready to go in the water and realize "damn it i forgot the seat."  so i ran back to the house up the hills to get the seat and came back....that was my first mistake...so now i am tired and i haven't even got on the water yet lol....so i go pedaling around and i see this guy with his surf board...he jumps on it and starts paddling down the shore lol....then i saw either a sea lion or sea otter swimming at me i couldn't tell but he went under....then i  pedaled around till sunset and get back to shore...get the kayak all rigged back up on the cart (by the way the tires need air lol)  start the trek up the hills....WOW that was the hardest part of the whole trip....i was so out of breath and my heart was racing by the time i get to the house....now i have 2 flights of stairs to my front door lol.....i thought the cart was gonna make it easier but wow that was the biggest work out i have done in a while...i don't think i am going out tomorrow i am gonna be to sore....i am so out of shape

as for mysterioso i am gonna take it off before i wheel the yak back up the hills next time cause i was drenched in sweat by th time i got there lol...it works on the water pretty good as long as you aren't in the water...but even it gets wet as long as you don't apply more cold water you warm up quick...my feet never got cold thats for sure

now to mount the ram tubes :)
