Hi all, newbie here from Nanaimo. Just picked up a Jackson Coosa HD and am just getting it rigged up with a lowrance hook 5 and then I am off to the races. I primarily fly fish but intend to get out on the salt for some salmon and ling. looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

Not a travel ad, but last February we got a great travel deal from the BC ferrys and for about $450 that included the ferry ride over and back, 3 nights in hotels with great breakfasts.  We took the ferry from Pt Roberts to Sidney, drove to Victoria and spent two nights in a great hotel on the bay, went micro brew crawling.  Drove to Port Rentfrew interchanging small breweries with winter beach walking.  Turned back and drove up past Nanimo to Cambell River for the night, again, hitting a small brewery every couple of hours between beach walks.  I wanted to get to the Seymour Narrows but didn't have the time.  All in all a great February getaway for amazingly cheap.  You've got some great fishing and paddling nearby.

Welcome John.  Love fishing the Island. We fish Barkley sound every year.  Good luck with the yak.

Driving near Port Renfrew on the west side was the first time I've seen a "kayak crossing" road sign.

Welcome John,  love to fish your island, and have been doing so for about 15 years (from a boat). You have a lot of water to try out....good luck from a another new and jealous kayak angler.
