Hi

I moved to Port Orchard in 2016 from San Luis Obispo California and need  :o want to get back on the water. I'm still a beginner but looking forward to hooking up and meeting new friends and finding some awesome fishing spots!
My name is Laurie BTW.

BTW I have a Tarpon 140 set on top. Do I need a set inside yak?

Welcome to NWKA and PNW.  You're sot will be fine up here.  I love central coast area grew up down there.  I've had some great fishing trips at Montana de Oro.  You'll find that if your going to fish the ocean most of us opt for a little more protection for cold water emirsion (dry suit, wet suit bottom or waders with dry top).  The're tons of fishing opportunities up here ocean and salmon fishing are great.

Welcome !

That boat is perfect, don't entertain any second thoughts, until you start thinking about pedaling over paddling.

As mentioned, the waters up here are pretty much immersion gear about the entire year, certainly so for the sound and the ocean.

Let's eat, Grandma !

Hi Laurie, I'm just down the road in Gig Harbor.  There are lots of nearby places you can take your boat out in the Sound, and of course lots of lakes...  and lots of friendly helpful kayak anglers as well.  Me, I take my boat out, throw a line in hte water, and just listen to the fish laughing at me.  But I have fun!

Immersion gear, yeah.

Welcome Laurie! Tarpons are great boats, we have 6 of them for our Heroes On the  Water Chapter. Hope you will consider volunteering for HOW. We are planning an event this year from the Bremerton area. Hopefully, you will be able to make it. We post most information on our Facebook page, but you can PM me for more info.
