If you don't feel stable enough to make on-the-fly adjustments from in the Vantage seat (raising the back can be tricky), it's easy enough to sit side-saddle on the center hatch and do what you need to do.

The venturi scupper sucks, and not the way it was designed to suck.  The duct on the bottom of the boat is held in by bungee tension.  If you pull out the ball, the duct will have to come out too unless you glue it into the scupper.  My Revo 16 drains better without it.

The lawn chair seat on the Hobie can take a bit of acclimation, particularly in a Revo13 or 16. I personally prefer those types of hull shapes over the Outback, but then again, I also prefer a long, skinny SINK (21-23" beam), and have spent many years in small boats and bumpy waters. Couple elevating my butt at/above the waterline and not having a paddle in hand for stability and it is a very different feeling in salt chop, swells and wind. Some conditions require active balancing, but that becomes reflexive. If conditions are particularly challenging, I'll have my paddle in hand for bracing. It doesn't take long for me to feel comfortable in any reasonable fishing conditions. Meanwhile, as several others have said, with the Vantage seat set up right, it provides all day fishing comfort.

Thank you, Dave.  Good description.

Here is an interesting mod for those that like the higher seat position but find the tendency of the jack stand to release to the low position if leaning too far forward annoying.
