Looking a little brown, I'll be driving to Tillamook tomorrow morning and will check it again.
Bummer!  😖
Hey bozzo, it was a little muddy when I took the photo a few post up
You don't have to call me names!  That's it I'm leaving.  I'm finding a different forum where people will coddle me.  😥
😂
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
TLW said you can join her book group there fairly coddlie.  ;)
Looked real nice today should be good Saturday since we had no rain today, winds calling for up to 11 mph so it's doable and hopefully fishy. Still not sure if I'm in I'll know tomorrow evening.

It was a good day out in the bay fishing-wise.  Weather-wise it was kind of sketchy out there.  I've never seen waves that high in the bay before.  Crossing the narrow section of the bay towards where the jetty is was gnarly.  Everyone made it out there OK and I'm pretty sure everyone caught fish so it was a good day!
Some pics of two of the 5 fish I caught.  The greenling I didn't get in the frame too well and one rockfish decided he was camera shy and went for a swim instead.  The other rockfish I just pushed into the bag after losing the last one.

I have some video footage to go through.  I'll post it up once I go through it.

Are you saying the fish in the 1st pic is a greenling?  If that's the case, I have no idea what I've been catching.
Haha... No, I didn't get a picture of the greenling or the second or third rockfish.

What is it?  I don't think I've ever caught one of those.

It's a Striped Perch.

Yep, technically its a striped perch.  Real bright blue stripes down the sides and around the jaw.  It didn't come out on the picture though.
I just thought they were all called surf perch.
Thanks Mark.

I faired pretty well with and without electronics during the weekend. Caught about 10 black Seabass, 6 copper heads, 2 cabazon (released) and 3 lingcod (all keepers 😉).
Only kept a few of the larger rockfish oh and a few bonus crab, but was still a great time out on the water.

That's an interesting rig you run PNW. Appears to be deadly...nice work!

Where did you get that spreader?  Looks like one that we won at the sportsman show but with swivels on the outside and not flashers.  How many hooks can you run on it?
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

I am not Nicholas (PNW) but was fishing with him Saturday. It's called an Alabama or umbrella rig. it's meant to mimic schooling bait fish. Oregon tackle makes one called a school of fish that is available at most all the local tackle shops, it uses flasher blades instead of swimbaits with lures, you would add your lure to the end in this case. Bass fisherman like to use them a lot when baitfish are nearby. In Oregon you are allowed to run a maximum of 3 hooks so the rest of the swivels need to be empty or with dummy swimbaits.

Fisherman's has some, there are three and five prong spreaders.  Like Matt said the bass fishermen like them although the tournaments are banning them as too effective.  Oregon only allows three hooks so I've put flashers on the other prongs.

The spreader that you are referring to is call an Alabama rig or umbrella rig. Like matt said, it's just to mimic a bait ball swimming through the water. I use it often when I am bass fishing in lakes or rivers, but have experiemented with it in the salt too. If you want a large selection check out tacklewarehouse.com and you can pick and choose which one you want given certain conditions.
I cut off 2/5 of the wires since I didn't want to run dummy baits or blades.
