I just picked up my first kayak (Aquaglide Blackfoot XL--I'm an apartment-dweller with limited space for a hard body kayak at the moment) and am excited to get to know the local waterways and do some fishing and crabbing. I grew up doing both, but it's been a while and that was back on the east coast, so I've got a lot of learning to do! Back then I mostly fished in bays, going for crabs and flounder. I'd like to learn to get some trout, salmon, bass.... Just about anything I can eat, really!

I still need to get some more gear, but I'd love to find some fishing and crabbing buddies in the area. I'm also interested in paddling around just for fun, clamming, crawfishing, etc.

I'm in Seattle but open to going a bit further afield. Though I'm not completely new to kayaking, I am a novice and looking to start off on calmer waters (and hoping that doesn't mean I can't get to the crabs!). I have an early workday, so late afternoon or early evening trips would be doable on the weekdays, plus weekends. Let me know if you're interested in showing a noob the ropes or have any tips!

Welcome avid! Had to look up the Blackfoot xl. Looks like a cool fishing platform! I'm north of everett, but would be willing to meet somewhere in the middle for a good day of fishing! Send me a pm or make a post on the forum if you have any trips planned. Tight lines

Hello AVID. If you ever feel like heading south to Dash Point the water is usually pretty calm there even during exchanges and I've always done well crabbing just north of the park. When pinks show up in about 6 weeks you can have a pretty fun day there too. Haven't had my new kayak out in salt yet but good chance will be I'll try out there first.
They might sound ill advised, but when I tell folks of my exploits, it's rare I don't find them smiling

Lots of crab, flounder and sole off of golden gardens. For flounder and sole, just dropshot a charturce 3" gulp mullet in 50-100 foot of water and you should near immediately get bites. I'll pm you next time I shove off from Ballard.

Thanks for the info and invitations!

Dash Point, Everett, Golden Gardens all seem doable to me, though I might avoid the further ones on weekdays. It might be a couple of weeks before I've finished (or finished starting) gearing up, but please do let me know when any of you are making a trip you wouldn't mind a tag-along for.  :)
