Any suggestions on where to take my son fishing this weekend around portland?  My son is nine, just learning kayaking in a revo 13 kayak. Took him on hagg lake 2 weeks ago and he did well with the kayak.  Looking for a place where we have a chance of catching something but not in high current or boat traffic.

Dundee paddle ramp, fish for bass on the Willamette ? Aways have the option to stay between the bank and the island.

There are trillions of answers to that question.

What kind of fishing rods and reels do you plan to use?
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

The Chehalem Paddle Launch access at Dundee has been closed, don't know what the reason is or if it's permanent, but no more access between Dayton and the Newberg boat ramp.

Really ? The rental operation is only open seasonally nd on the weekends, but the ramp has always been open.

Was there a locked gate or barricade or something ?

Chehalem Parks website announced it, and the kayak rental at the Dayton boat ramp mentioned it to me recently.  I haven't driven out there to check, just taking their word for it.

North Fork reservoir (on the clackamas) was stocked this week with trout. Get out there early enough and you will beat all the splash and giggle crowd.  They will come out in the afternoon, but even then its not toooooo crowded.  Fish the end near the dam.
