I had a short 2 hours to fish on Saturday morning before heading up to the GF's folks house for the day, so I made the most of it, puttting in the Willamette around 7:30am.  I had to be packed up by 9:30, and at 9:15 on a downhill troll, amidst LOTS of boats (all going upstream) I marked a few fish (i think) in 12 FOW. While holding my rod, with 5oz of weight right on the bottom...a fish took my plug cut herring...I let him chew on it for about 8 seconds, then a quick easy lift and set of the hook, and he was on.  I turned upstream, and with a short few cranks of the  reel that white bellied fish was on the surface, but not ready to come in.  I let him work a bit, tire himself upstream...and when I could hold him right at the surface, I reached back for my net, and in one quick motion while the fleet watched, I lifted that fish right into the net, and into my kayak.  I felt like a pro !  2nd springer in my Hobie so far, and always a blast.  A few hours later half of the fish was on the BBQ and fed 6 people on a  beautiful sunny saturday Spring afternoon.
I put in a quick 90 minutes this morning at first light before work, but not so lucky today.  Will be back tonite after work getting after it.
Good luck everyone, hope to see some of ya'll out there.

Nice fish!! Haven't brought myself to making a springer trip yet. I need to head out after work for a few hours one of these days.
