Howdy one and all,
I was happy to find this site, looks like a wealth of information to sift through.  I purchased a Pelican Catch 120 for some nearshore ocean fishing, since I live so close to the ocean.  I never could afford the expense of a powerboat and I like to get some exercise any way I can.
I took my Pelican out on the ocean near Campbell River, but the salmon hadn't made it yet when I was there in July.
I will also use it for freshwater lake fishing and keep my pontoon boat for rivers.  I mostly fly fish, but I wouldn't mind going after some salmon with a buzz bomb or something similar.  I am also planning to fly fish for salmon in the Sooke River estuary.  I have some tube fly patterns I want to try.
I haven't added any accessories yet, and am trying to decide what to mount and where.  I don't want to add too much, because I will snag my line with my less than pretty casts.
I have a Humminbird Fishing Buddy that I like for lakes, but there is no easy way to mount it on my Pelican, so I'll be searching the site for tips on that.
Anyway, looks like a great site and I look forward to meeting some folks.
Cheers.
ps, Anyone looking to go out in the Sooke area, or South Island, let me know.  I'm not keen on fishing alone for safety reasons.

Darn it, another Canadian!

I fly fish from a kayak, too, Popster and agree that keeping the deck as clean as possible is a bonus.  I use Ocean Kayak Tridents and I've added basically nothing to the deck.

Hang around and ask some questions in the Waving the Bug Wand forum.  There are some of us who fish only with fly rods and we do pretty darned good with them.   :D

Welcome to NWKA.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Welcome Popster! I am in your area (Metchosin) and get out once in awhile. I’m going up to Renfrew tomorrow to try for springs in the bay. Sooke River is always great to fly fish for chum in a few weeks. I launch on the bat side of the bridge and then peddle upstream and have some fun upstream of the bridge. (Catch and release.)
