Whales cruising around, camera shy puffins, salmon jumping out of water, fog till around 11:00am, low swell, and plenty of fish, all in all a good day.  We saw an unusual sight close to the pinnacle? (the rock that is about 15-20’ from surface ).  Shannon pointed out bait fish were jumping out of the water all around us, this was then followed by salmon chasing the bait fish and in the process jumping out of the water!  None of us had salmon gear but I had brought my fly rod and immediately cast out, catching a black rock fish! This did not last long but for the next 20 minutes the area was inundated with cormorants, sea gulls and even one puffin that landed about 15’ from my yak.  I landed 7 Black Rockfish and 2 Ling Cod.  Kept 4 and 1.  I tried a large octopus with 3 oz for the first time going after Ling. Caught some monster Blacks before I lost it in the rocks but will try that again!
Just wait till the day when your casting your fly to what you think are blacks on the surface and you start catching salmon like no tomorrow.

Going out for the first time is always the scariest but once you get out there all you can think about is when you can go again.

Nice Copper!  Wow!
