Lake Stevens Kokanee - video

The Coho should be in range of the Hobie in the next few weeks, so have spent that past couple of weekends chasing the next best thing... kokanee. They are a blast to fish for.

Nice video!  Josh, what are your recommendations for avoiding epic line tangles when trolling with two downriggers from a kayak?  I see that you keep pedaling forward while playing in a fish so you won't drift back over your other line.

Ive actually yet to ever tangle my lines. 2 keys to this are no super sharp turns, and fish both lines at different depths, even if just a couple of feet different. Three basic reasons why i keep pedaling while a fish is on are 1) I want to keep the other line fishing and possibly get a double (kokanee are mainly schooling fish) 2) Specially with kokanee,  i dont want the fish to have a chance at any slack. Kokanee dont really tug or pull when they are hooked, they instead go ballistic, doing sommersaults, barrel rolls etc and can get the leader caught in the gill plate and rip the hooks out, plus they tend to come to the surface fast and like to flop around. 3) Many times if I stop pedaling, the amount of line out could sink the gear to the bottom and I dont want to get hung up.
