I would go for the ML as it would double for a good salt rod and is plenty strong for sturgeon.

That's what I am thinking.  Thanks!

Zach is right on for this one.  The ML is plenty. I have one and use it in the salt for big lings and cabbies, and have also used it for sturgeon.  Any heavier and you will have a broom stick.

I use the green Trevala S 6'3" medium for all of my saltwater and sturgeon fishing. Revo toro for dinos and halibut and tatula for lings and everything smaller. Don't know about oversized but I'll give it a try if they bite. Super light that rock fish give a good fight and strong enough for big fish. One of my favorite rods to fish with.

Picked up a 7 foot ml trevala tonight. Man this thing feels nice in the hand. I spent a long time comparing it and debating about the 6-6m and the ml.  I decided I wanted the extra length but am a bit concerned if it will be strong enough.  We shall see.

Spent a while comparing it to the 2 uglystik tiger elites (6-6mh and 7h). You could just feel in hand how much more sensitive the Shimano is.
