A long time friend of mine and a few others are doing a halibut trip that weekend. I would say most of us are all experienced ocean fisherman with several halibut seasons. If any one would like to join, we are more then welcome to guide any one who wants to try for halibut. If weather permits of course (either the strait or the coast). 6 people as of now are currently going. Two of the guys have tandem islands, there will also be an adventure island, few outbacks and a pro angler.
Requirements: over 21, good physical condition, experience in the salt, and no assholes (or at least fake it for one day)... ;D

I’m heading up that weekend, and I know of at least one other going as well. Would welcome a meetup. Thanks for the generous invite. Reckon I meet the list of qualifications, though my 40 time would probably not rival even o-linemen anymore.

I am going to do a physical skills and equipment check this weekend to make sure I am up to a 14+ mile challenge in possibly windy conditions... At 51, I wouldn't ever want to put anyone in jeopardy to risk saving my skinny ass, especially if it's my first time with halibut...

I'm good for the distance / exertion.  We'll probably also have rain to help cool us down, ha.

We plan on going around 3-4 miles each way plus fishing, probably not too far but who knows.

I'm not sure if I will drag the boat up there since we are storing the boat at Westport, and I would have to go set it up before our trip. I ordered another hobie this morning. I think conquestdz is planning on going last time we spoke. Also to much info...yaklife
I think we will stick to our usual spot in the strait since some are new to surf launches and we always do well there.

You are more then welcome to join the trip Shaina if you so choose. We have all the tackle and gear for halibut.

I’m not going to post our spots publicly but your welcome to pm me, Sekiu is great most days this time of year.

Good luck!

I think I will take you up on that offer. I will pick up everything later this week in terms of tackle.

Off topic, you guys are really peddling 14+ miles to fish for Halibut? I didn't realize how spoiled we are up North.

No that was a calm day and we tried a few deep water spots. You can catch a halibut less then 200 yards from shore. The difference here is the season is short.
