Looks like my wife's "winter soup swap" has been cancelled and I suddenly have a free morning for myself on Saturday.

Anyone interested in a little fishing?  I have a few ideas...

1.) Sturgeon on the Willamette... George Rogers Park, St. Johns, Swan Island, Sellwood?
2.) Crappie near Swan Island or Portland Harbor docks?  I wouldn't eat these but they do count for AOTY points
3.) Combo pack sturgeon and crappie near Swan Island
4.) Broodstock trout fishing...  various ponds near Salem, Battleground Lake (S. Wash), etc..
5.) Steelhead fishing somewhere?  Even if it's just along the bank without a kayak.

I'm up for just about anything.

Same with your's Roy.  Some day we'll have to hit up those central OR lakes for lake trout. I believe they're fairly central to both of us.

Sounds good to me. Crescent or Odell are high on my list:

On that note i called the Odell Lake Lodge and talked to Andy for a good while. Nice guy, shared a few tricks with me, gotta love fishermen that love to talk...

Early in the season, May-June they catch them shallow, **ft - **ft using a ****  ****** lure in the ********* area of the lake......

Name a time in that frame and I'll be there.Middle of May, I'm thinking. Show up and i'll fill in the blanks....

Andy recomended the Sunset Cove campground.

Hey Brian,

Wish I could join you but it's a work weekend for me.  Also need to finish off the ff / gps installation.  Glad to hear you can get out though.  Let us know how it goes and post some pics if you can.  Have Fun and Good Luck!

Brian,
I'm curious about why you wouldn't eat them. Is it because they have high levels of bad stuff in them? That has to be it, cuz there's few things finer than a few inches of hot oil, some Zatarian's Seasoned Fish-Fri, and a mess of crappie fillets...

Well, wherever you choose to go Saturday, good luck!

Sorry for the confusion.. I love crappie, bluegill, perch, etc.. they are some of the tastiest little morsels.

Portland Harbor on the other hand is one of the more industrial sections of a very industrial and contaminated stretch of the Willamette.  That stretch of the Willamette river near Portland is actually a superfund site.

Nope,  no fishing for me today as I couldn't find anyone to go with me.  So went shopping with the wife instead.   :angry3:
