hey hi,

I'm new to freshwater angling as of this summer, but I grew up on the deck of a troller out of Comox, BC back when we used to have large salmon runs, so I'm familiar with the equipment for salmon fishing even if I'm still working out how to apply it to angling from a kayak.

bought a cheap, fluorescent green Pelican kayak 5 years back, and I take it out just to frig around, and the past few years I've been taking it out fishing.

I know this is probably illegal in some way to say on the west coast, but: I have no interest in catching salmon. I'm not gonna turn one down if they selflessly throw themselves on my hook, you dig, but I'm not targeting them. What I super am here for is learning to target trout, lings, halibut, and rock fish when they're legal. all my hooks are single barbless, even when it's not required, and I fish to feed my family rather than as sport.

I do beadwork and wirework jewelry in my downtime, and as someone who is retired due to psoriatic arthritis (not the kind of arthritis you take aspirin for, that's osteoarthritis) I have a lot of downtime. this means I also have a lot of gear on hand to make weird flies and homemade lures.

i live up on the Sunshine Coast in BC, just a little north of Powell River, and I look forward to lurking in your threads as I absorb your secrets.

here's a lure I made yesterday, instead of tidying up my lure table:

The copper wire isn't too soft?
Cool idea.

Do the green beads illuminate or glow? That would really set it off

not for small fish! I guess I'll be in trouble if anything over 5lbs latches on, but so far the interest has been littl'uns only.

they glow! took em off another wire lure that was rusting. edit: wait, shoot. the little white ones glow, the green ones are glass with a mirror-finish on the inside of the hole. they click and clatter and sparkle when it's in motion.
