I am a newbie to kayak fishing and so I thought I would ask for some opinions on what kind of boat and gear a beginner should look into.  I fly fish mostly and I live in Washington near the Puget Sound.  Would like something I could use on the sound near the shore and yet still go out on the lakes.     ;D

Welcome to NWKA, FFM.

The best advice is to try as many different yaks as possible, before you commit to a purchase. Either try and meet folks with extras or go to some of the dealers. For lakes and the Sound, I would probably pick a longer yak, for better boat speed, but that's a personal preference. I'm sure others will chime in with more advice and better details about where to go.

Good Luck!
