I did some more searching and found a good sat map of the Sunset Cove place:

http://maps.google.com/[email protected],-121.96322&geocode=&dirflg=&saddr=&f=d&sll=44.063907,-122.003174&sspn=1.669603,2.686157&ie=UTF8&z=16

Did a directions search and it was 176 miles from Coos bay and 180 from Portland. Now that would be centrally located....

Sounds good Roy.  I remember wanting to do this last spring, but the snow stuck around for ever.  By the time it melted gas was $4.50/gallon.

Maybe we'll make it this year.

Yea, the price of gas killed all my travel plans last year. We will see about this year for long trips but this is one i want to do for sure.

Odell is one of my favorite lakes. Gotta watch out for the wind over the deep water when fishing Kokanee & lakers. It can kick up suddenly and make for a somewhat physically challenging & psychologically stressful paddle back. Rainbows, whitefish, & bull trout (protected) can be caught near shore.
