Just to get this out there and get some understanding. Am I NOT supposed to go to PC for essential rockfish and lingcod in the next couple of weeks? Did I miss something?

That’s correct.  Stay home.  Next few weeks sound critical.  All parking lots at PC are closed and barricaded, including the main cape Kiwanda lot, pelican brewery lot, tiera Del Mar beach access, Bob Straub State Park, pacific city boat launch, etc.  Tillamook co. Sheriffs are actively patrolling and advising people to as to the situation.

My daughters boy friend and her were at a local viewpoint chilling in his Jeep trying to de stress on her way home from work .. Sherriff rolled up and said since his plates came back in Tillamook he wasn’t going to issue a citation. They watched him hand a car parked at the other end of the lot something through his passenger window, can only guess a citation maybe written warning.

Gee, Fred, fishing isn't essential, it's just allowed.  "If we do everything (i.e. social distancing, staying at home, etcetera) almost perfectly we may be able to limit this to 100,000-240,000 fatalities."

So yeah, for a few weeks, please hang close to home.

Stay safe, stay well.

I'm going to add a little more to this.  I've been helping out with my county's emergency response plan for COVID-19 and have maybe just a wee bit more background information than what we hear/watch/read.  Allowing us to continue recreational fishing assumed we wouldn't travel far from home to fish.  Remember when the Governor recommended we stay at home and expected people would do that, but folks flocked to Oregon's northern beaches?  The beaches were closed, tourists were ordered out of town, and slowly but surely those closures are moving South along the coast.

The State has made the same assumption about fishing - that we'll be smart and sensible about it - but if we don't use common sense and control ourselves the way folks thought we would, they're prepared to close it down.

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Not enough folks here were using common sense, so Washington closed all recreational fishing statewide.

Had to drive to seaside so TLW could refill the father-in-laws daily pill holders. He usually rides the bus down here....but not right now, we stopped nowhere in between but seen lots of pictures being posed for along 101 at the view points. Now Cannon Beach ain’t playing around as the picture shows, these were at every entrance going both ways.
