Woahink Lake Tuesday afternoon

I decided to give Woahink a try this afternoon for yellow perch. The lake was like glass, and it was fairly warm again today. After paddling a mile to the perch hole, I managed to catch one nice perch in a little over two hours. I was fishing 73 feet deep using a piece of night crawler. The schools of perch were few and far between, and only about 5 schools swam by. I had a couple of near hookups, and finally managed to land one.

Hey Dave, Did you get a temperature of the water where you caught that ahnold swartzinperch ?

No exact temp, I can imagine pretty darned cold at 73 feet.

Yellow perch are a pretty common ice fishing target.  I don't think temperature is an issue.  The key sometimes is to downsize your offering.

I've been finding perch through the ice here, and they're not all that deep, maybe 12-15 feet. (Patterson Lake can go to 100'.) They tend to hang out near the weed beds.

well, They sure aren't biting down here. I'm using a small hook with a piece of nightcrawler, 3 different lakes, still nothin, maybe a couple little bites....
