I wrote a letter to PacificCorp asking them to build a gravel access path to allow kayak anglers to access the beach and launch on the south side of the Speelyai ramp at Lake Merwin. The objective was to provide an easy access for us to launch our kayaks, minimize conflict with powerboaters, and minimize erosion and impacts to lakeside vegetation from our kayaks, carts, and foot traffic.

I am very pleased to announce the kayak launch facilities will be constructed March 16-17. During their construction the Speelyai ramp will be closed. Cresap will be available on those days for launch from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Thank you for the update - I'm going to have to get to Merwin sometime.

And thanks for the presentation on kokanee fishing last Friday - I will be visiting the Metolius arm soon.

Wow,nice of PacificCorp to act so quickly. Thanks,Tyler! I like using the boat launch, but I didnt mind beach launching when it was busy...which it always seems to be in the morning these days.Man, I need you to talk to my boss about a raise.....

I'm sincerely impressed! In my experience good intentions don't get you too far in this type of situations, so good on you for making it happen.

Perhaps I'll have to try again there yet... ;-)

I guess I jinxed myself. I just got another communication from PacificCorp. Apparently they've hit some roadblocks in the county permitting process. Stay tuned for updates.

Thank you.  Even if it falls through, you got in on their radar and hopefully they will be able to build it at some point.

It's kind of a non issue now. Back then ,after the parking lot remodel, there was strategically placed logs on the shoreline making entry difficult.  Plenty of room right now for shore launch right next to the ramp. Now,if we could get a launch at  the dam end of the lake...that would be great.
