in colder weather, the Kokatat Supernova Angler Hydrus would be my choice, I used that suit from 2013-2017 and my only issue was getting warm on sunny summer days here off the coast, I moved to the Supernova Gore-tex to stay cooler on sunny days, I love it but definitely have added to my inner layers on colder stormy days.  cheers, roger

Like many on here, I have the Kokatat supernova angler.  Its my first dry suit and overall its fine, does the job.  The neoprene neck gasket is more comfortable than a latex, but still chafes me a bit after a full day on the water.  Biggest complaint, and this really applies to most dry suits, is you gotta figure out something for the rain to keep your head dry.  A couple suits have built-in hoods, I believe NRS and Stolhquist both make one.

I have a GoreTex Kokatat Idol (https://kokatat.com/gore-tex-idol-dry-suit-with-switchzip-technology-dsugids) that I like a lot. The top and bottom are separate pieces that zip together at the waist. Can use the pieces independently.

The Kokatat Goretex Odyssey looks legit. I have the previous model and it is freaking amazing. It's hard to imagine a piece of gear as protective as a hooded Kokatat gore tex suit with full latex gaskets.

Yeah it's very spendy (1300ish) but if you are hardcore and want the best protection in the cold, Kokatat Goretex hooded suits are the way to go!

I've used the heck out of my Kokatat suits and they are still going strong after nearly 10 years. Send them in every year or so for patching, maybe every 3 years for gasket replacement

I've been using the Kokatat Hydrus 3.0 Supernova Angler suit for several years.  I will buy again now that mine burned up in the Detroit fire.  Outdoorplay.com has 20% coupons so I will be keeping my eye out for that.  I might upgrade to the gore-tex version this time for better summer comfort.

I got a screaming deal on the NRS explorer paddling suit ($380) so i think that is where I am going to start... i will layer accordingly if its too light... I am mostly concerned about being dry. I will definitely keep my eyes open for the Kokatat... I learned my lesson a long time ago with waders to buy nice.
