Debating if I should instal deck lights on my kayak. It’s not that I’m wanting to fish after dark but The boy scout in me wants to be prepared just in case. Anyone have lights? If so what kind and do they attract annoying critters?

The only light I have is a white all-directions lamp on my safety flag.  Meets USCG requirement for human-powered craft.  I also have a waterproof flashlight I take along when darkness might be involved.  No deck lights or other nav lites...

There was a brief conversation about deck lights not too long ago and I believe the general consensus was that they can be dangerous on a slow-moving vessel like a kayak when there may be powerboats around.
