AOTY 2026 is up and ready for you to sign up.  I know there has been a lot of frustration with people not able to log on or submit their fish.  If you want to compete but are still having trouble with going through AOTY, feel free to send the information to me and I’ll see what I can do.  I don’t have access or knowledge to fix any problems, but I can do some work around to get information submitted.

Hope to see you on the water with some big fish this year.
The two best times to fish is when it’s raining and when it ain’t. -Patrick McManus

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

Thanks for doing that James, I will be signing up soon. I still cannot access the AOTY page and even have trouble getting onto the main page. I have to refresh a couple time to get there. I am not sure if it's my computer or something with the NWKA site. Good luck to everyone participating this year and hope to see you on the water.

I can only access AOTY page thru goat board, and takes 8 or 10 attempts to sign in and submit a fish. It's not your computer. Try using this link:

I have lost several sponsors due to the messed up website. There are only 2 people who have the rights to make changes or corrections to the web page. Brian Steeves and Allen Sansano. Neither one of them will authorize anyone else access. Neither one of them has any interest in fixing the web page. Here a month or so, I managed to find someone who knows Allen, and they contacted him. He claims to have fixed it partially, but it is still completely messed up. They claim if you remove the "s" from the https, then it will work. Well, I did that and guess what? NOPE!

Good luck everyone! Please know that by signing up for this tournament, no matter how dysfunctional the web page is, HOW will still appreciate and benefit from your sign up fees! Sign up fee is a $50 donation to Heroes on the Water. Please make a note of one of the local chapters so they will get the funds to benefit local Veterans and First Responders.

I will be retired in the fall of 2027. I really hope AOTY survives until 2028 so I can take a good swing at winning it! At least the small fry category since small fish seems to be about all I can catch on a regular basis!

And THANK YOU James for helping people!

I have been using the link to the GOAT list that I got from Cameron for the last 2 years. It is a struggle, but I have been able to make it work enough to post my fish.

Thanks Cameron!

If anyone happens to talk to B Steeves or Allen Sansano, please ask them, even beg them to give access to more people who are active on the page. Lauren says he could fix it if given access. I am not a tech person AT ALL, so it would do no one any good for me to have access. I am sure we have a few more people on here who could help if given a chance.

I'd sign up if it worked.  It's going on a year now.

I couldn't get on AOTY page today, gave up after 20 something attempts, and just sent the info to NoBadDays.

Has anyone ever come across a 48" folding fish board (bump board measuring device) that is cupped? I love my yakgear, but they don't seem to make em longer than 36". Currently using a Berkeley folding board, but it's completely flat, and I've had a fair amount of trouble keeping fish, especially live ones to be released, from sliding off it. If there is such a board out there, it'd certainly help me to take better pics than these.

The lingcod pic is easy to judge with the nose and tail touching the board.  Even though it's a pain I usually take the Macs to shore for accuracy.

Ketch has a 40"er, but it's $100.  I have some ideas for building something a lot cheaper.  Hope to have it ready before my next trip to Mac land.

Yeah, those big macs are so old, I feel bad about taking a long trip to shore, putting em on the ground, and taking back out deep enough to release. $100 is a lot for a bit of plastic or aluminum. Please let me know if you come up with a good homemade design!

We have some great fish being submitted already this year.  SD2OR has a great start with a rainbow and lake trout combo to give him a 218 average for his first two fish.  Not to be outdone, Kemfish follows up by submitting a rainbow and walleye combo to give him a 228 average for his first two fish.  Great job both of you.

For the rest of us, apparently it’s time to get out fishing before we are left too far behind.
