Oregon Rockfish Classic 2026

Not sure how widely this is spread on hear but trying to help drum up support for the ORC 2026.

There are some changes from last year. You are allowed to keep a legal limit of fish.

For the tournament it is 3 fish per species as proven by photo with tournament identifier in photo. Fish can then be released or kept up to legal limits.

If there is not enough entries by July 4th, the event will canceled. So come on out and catch some fish!

It's great that you can keep fish if you want, but have they explained the tie-breaker rule ahead of time this year? Or will it be a decision at the weigh in again?

Yeah. I have no idea. This will be my 1st experience with this sort of scoring.. iI can for sure see how it can create issues.

I remember when the prize for 1st place was a kayak, now it's just a trophy. I miss the ORC of days past, and I have participated in 15 of them. last year was okay, but having to take photos(movies), while trying to catch fish really sucked, especially with the drift at Depoe Bay!. I am afraid that last years ORC was my last. See you all at Sunset Bay in August.

This is the first that I have heard about the ORC on NWKA this year. Too bad it is happening so soon, or I would be there.

Not a lot of photos taken at ORC.  The conditions were fishable, but not great.  They were bad enough that one guy flipped his kayak straight out from the condos.

Fishing was a bit slow, but with a little effort, fish were caught.

Hong Long took first place with nine fish submitted.
Jed took second with ten fish submitted
I didn’t catch the name of the third place finisher.

Good job James! It was a tough day on the Water indeed! I quit early and was glad to be chilling with family watching from the condos. I got 4 fish for a fish fry dinner.

I did get an upgrade for AOTY, but it appears AOTY may be a thing of the past. No way I have ever used works to access AOTY.

Had fun meeting up with friends and fishing the Oregon Rockfish Classic Northwest Qualifier last weekend.

Weather and ocean conditions were sub optimal but was still able to pull out a second place finish on game day. Depoe didn't have the number and size of fish as past years and I hope it is just a temporary thing.

Caught 3 or 4 lings every day but nothing very big. Greenlings are usually a lock but I had trouble finding them on Saturday. Black rockfish were everywhere and very good size. I didn't catch any cabezon in 3 days of fishing which is odd. I guess the salmon bite was on fire at the second buoy but I never tried. A pair of China rockfish helped to boost my score even thought they are usually my nemesis🤣

Saw some elk in the fog and had the weather clear enough to snap a couple pix of the coast line.

Stopped by Stryker Rods & Blanks on the way down to replace my near immortal K662 that finally gave out this spring. I love that rod/blank and it did most of the heavy lifting and boated many of my submitted fish.

Next stop is San Diego in August for the USA Saltwater Kayak Fishing National Qualifier. Just hoping not to get skunked in a new fishery😆
