With limited storage space, larger and heavier kayaks, and too little to do, I decided to spend a couple of days (aka 2 weeks) figuring out a way to store our boats. Commercial haul systems were too lightweight so I came up with my own design and my own components which suited our situation. They seem to be holding so far!

I have a couple of kayaks I'd like to get up and out of my way - I haven't seen my workbench in ages.  I tried hand pulleys once, but damn, the boats were still heavy.  Could you explain your system a little more, please?

I’m a little slammed right now but I will send you a schematic of what I did in a few days. Probably over-designed but the Predator is a heavy boat. And the haul system is 4:1 so makes it pretty easy to lift, you just have to have lots of rope.

If you have the headroom, the electric Garage Gator has been awesome for me.  Lower it right into the bed of my truck.

Dave

Dave, your Garage Gator system looks to be more simple than those listed on Amazon.com, and I can't see a reason to pay for bits of rigging that I'll never use.  Did yours have a model number or name - and do you remember it?   >:D
