Looking to get back into Kayak fishing.

Hello, I used to do a lot of kayak fishing and had a trident 11 unfortunately after transitioning out of the military I had to sell the kayak for financial reasons. Now I’ve gotten myself in a place I can look  to start getting back into kayak fishing again and I’m looking for some suggestions. I’m a larger fella 6’2” and 260 lbs. I’m looking for a good kayak that can do well with myself and gear for both fresh water and salt water and still have good stability. I loved my trident 11 but I think I’d like to go with something with a pdl drive. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated everyone’s always been real helpful in the past and had great advice or comments.

Contact some of the regional kayak shops and ask if they have any demo days.  Not sure if Covid has eliminated these but it is best to try before you buy.  Everyone's taste is different kind of like Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge..............  There are some great pedal drives out there.

Thank you for your response. I’ve looked around for some demo days but they stopped doing a lot of that due to covid. Hopefully with everything opened back up they will start them again.

Have you tried the outback. I have used one for 10 years. Though I am foot shorter and 100 lighter I know of several people that use the Outback.

Unfortunately I’ve never had an opportunity to try a hobie out. I was definitely leaning towards an older outback or I really like the old town sportsman 120/132 pdl. But it will most likely come down to budget and availability. I have herd Native Watercraft was a good route as well. Thank you for your response. All advice or opinions are a great help.

I have a couple of natives, once I’m healed up a little your welcome to try one on a local outing, Tillamook bay is my area.
