Hi I just moved back to W Washington after many years away and am about to start fishing again. I have never fished in the salt before and am thinking of trying my kayak somewhere near here once I get my license. So far nearby places I have seen that have access include the Park in Steilacoom and Defiance boat launch. I have an inflatable so I won't be going to far from shore but I am eager to give it a try. I will probably try some lakes first like American and Long lake.

Welcome aboard.  Easy steps, just like you're already doing and you'll be fine.  Also, try to find an experienced partner to go out with. There are way too many idiots in power boats in some parts of the sound.
