October silvers in BC?

I started a thread over on the Canadian kayak anglers site, and got a little feed back.   Thought I'd ask this here as well...

I'm taking off for a vacation the first two weeks in October with the wife, and we are thinking of doing some back roads exploring in BC.  Will have our ancient camper trailer to stay dry, and we'll be bringing our kayaks.  I expect we'll do some hiking/sightseeing, but I'd also like to do a little fishing.

I know there are opportunities to target coho/pinks off the beaches, but I don't know the first thing about doing it.  I've got an 8 wt fly rod with sinking lines and gear for casting small spoons/spinners.  Seems like this kind of fishing would be great for a kayak.

Can anyone point me at some good resources as far as areas to target (PM works)?  Also, and suggestions on good, less developed camping would also be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hmm, I think I would head to Vancouver Island. Easy access to Campbell River area, up the east side, or out to Sombrio?Jordan River on the west side. If I had the time (and gas $) I would be really tempted to head up to the far end, around Port Hardy/Telegraph Cove. Should be good fishing and good chance to see awesome wildlife, including orcas.

I don't know much about stream fishing for cohos in BC but the saltwater fishing is not very good up north on the island.

If I were you, I'd check out the Wind river, or the lower half mile of the White Salmon as the coho's may be starting to come in with the big numbers coming over Bonneville, for September.  The Klickitat can be good in October, and these are a lot closer for you to drive to.
