Thanksgiving Eve on the Ocean?

Anyone used ‘Swellscanner’ before? If so, did you find it to be accurate?

Pacific City is not the same as summer time, the wave on the right side breaks far and strong, launched near the vehicle ramp, 1 ling and 2 greenling

Turns out my nicest ocean day of 2024 fell on Thanksgiving, of all days.

I launched from Fogarty. A lot of sand has filled in the cove here, so it's more of a traditional surf launch on high tide. At low tide, it's more the typical steep beach situation. That being said, the 2-3 ft swell made launch and landing easy-peasy.

The bite started out really slow, but picked up significantly by 1100. Lingcod bite was excellent, and most of them were over 30 inches. Had a lot of fun pulling on lings til I harvested 36 and 38 inchers. The rockfish bite on the outer reef was spotty: some schools wouldn't bite anything, while others were very grabby. However, the shallow-water rockfish were biting well. Caught a nice variety of blacks, deacons, and yellowtails in 30-40 ft on a jigging spoon. The spoon tricked a cabezon and a nice kelp greenling as well.

Best lingcod bite was in 70-90 ft. I didn't fish deeper than 100, but I imagine it was great out in the deeper stuff too. Rockfish, it was best to fish tight to shore in 30-40 ft.

It was one of those days where it's real hard to leave! If it's the last time I get out on the ocean for the year, it was great to wrap it up on a beautiful ocean and excellent bite.

Did Fogarty today, was cold but beautiful, and eventually warmed up real nice. Was possibly my best ling numbers day. 18, all but 3 were legal, but also no big ones, which was what I was after. Biggest was maybe 28". Released em all in hopes of bigger. Got 5 black rockfish, tho one was only 3", kept the two chunkiest, bout 20" ers, and 1 blue rf. Fun day, no points, but some fresh sea meats.
