FYI, was at the Joes Sports in Clackamas tonight to pick up some springer gear and noticed they were clearing out all their Daiwa Millionaire Classics for $40 (usually $60).  Chinese made reels, but well-reviewed and apparently comparable to the Abu 5500/6500s.

I grabbed two of their 300's (similar in size to a 6500) as backup reels.  They had 5 or 6 more right hand 300's, 10 or 12 left hand ones, and a few of the smaller 250's.

Thought I'd post, just in case anyone is looking for cheap, decent gear.

If you use the Millionaire in salt water, be SURE to tighten down the drag and rinse it WELL in fresh water, preferably with Salt-Away or soapy water, I only got one year out of mine and the bearings corroded.  Nice reel while it lasted, wish I'd taken better care of it.

Ditto!

I might have to pick one up as a backup...
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain
