Drift anchor?

What size do you guys use for your drift anchors? I found a deal on a 20# so I picked it up.

Hopefully an anchor that weighs 2/3 of what the boat does will stop it when set.

One thing to keep in mind with a drift anchor is that it will change the turning dynamics of your yak considerably.  20lbs will definitely hold you but you may want to store it near the center of your yak between holes.
10lbs is what I have on mine and I can definitely feel it when trying to maneuver in the faster currents.

Sell the 20 lber to someone else and get yourself a 10 lb anchor.  Or melt it down and make yourself two 10 lb anchors.

If you find yourself needing 20lbs to stop your kayak, you probably shouldn't be anchoring in that spot.

Just for grins, what can I expect to pay for a 10#er?

I paid $26 at Fisherman's Marine. You might be able to find something less on Craigslist or EBay if you're patient.

Absolutely.   I could weld up another mold and we could melt that bugger down and repour it.
