Went out this morning to try my luck at catching a walleye from the new Trident.  I only had a couple hours but when you live 100 yards from the river that's doable.  I don't have a FF in the yak yet but I know the usual lanes pretty well so I figured I might have a chance.  Ten minutes into the first pass FISH ON!  Fought it to the boat Carp >:(  Continue the pass and after about an hour FISH ON AGAIN this one was a no doubter as the familiar lack of fight from a walleye was there.  Sure enough got it to the boat and its a pretty good one.  I have caught quite a few walleye and this was by far the most exciting one.. Something about the kayak makes it special don't it 8)  Next pass about ten minutes into it FISH ON AGAIN!  I still hadn't completely recovered from actually catching a walleye from my kayak now I had another and it's BIG!  Elation turned to disappointment when my giant Walleye turned out to be another Carp.  I can usually tell the difference but I was so excited about catching the first I totally psyched myself out :P  That pretty well ended all my time and I paddled home as happy as I've ever been about catching one fish.

Very nice job.  What is that about a 5lb fish?  That should rack up quite a few AOTY points.

Anyone else interested in heading east for some walleye?

Oh MAN! That looks like fun. Are the walleyes safe to eat up your way? What lure/bait were you using?

Thanks, it was alot of fun.  240 AOTY points in one fish ;D  Actually I should be able to improve on that number cause there are 30 inchers out there.  If anybody wants to try it I am available most weekends (well some weekends, seems like less and less the older I get)  Actually if there is some interest we could plan a Walleye Fish Meet and Greet.  Summer is good fishing, there is free camping down the road from my house, and immersion gear would be sunblock and sandals

I'm interested in trying it.  Scheduling will be the challenge for me - half my days off are during the week.  So far next weekend is free, but don't know about the weather.  Seems the only nice weather weekends are the ones I work.

EOB,

Beautiful fish! I would love to spend a few days in your neck of the woods, even though it's 350 miles from Florence. A trip up your way might just be in the cards later on this year. I have always wanted to catch a Walleye! I have heard that they are very tasty!

Great fish.  It is better from a kayak somehow.

They do taste great.  If you can make it this way your welcome to join me.

Sorry I missed that one on the first reply the fish was caught on a silver blade bait.
