OK so you guys troll your herring?  How do you know how far out to let the line?   Or are you anchored up fishing the herring?  Sorry lots of ?'s

Man!  Didn't you read my article in Kayak Angler Online?  Sheesh!  ;)

This is done trolling or backtrolling (paddling against a heavy current just fast enough to keep your bait spinning)

I put my rod in the rod holer, take a couple of strokes and then hit free-spin on the reel.  As soon as the weight hits bottom, I reel up 3 cranks (why 3?  Cause it feels right  ;D )  If your weight takes more than a couple of seconds to hit bottom you don't have enough weight on.

This works just as well (or better if you ask most guides) paddling with the current.

Anybody interested in a How-To Article on the Home page?

BTW: The reason I use a sliding swivel is because it reduces the amount of resistance that the fish feels when it takes your herring.

I second... or third... the motion!  :)

Wants a how to article on the front page PLEASE!!

I'm about half way thru the "How-To".  I should have it up this week.  Sorry about the delay!

BTW:  I made it out for 2hrs of springer fishing Saturday at sunrise.  Had one take that shredded my herring around 8:00AM.  Lots of fish were caught between 7:00AM and 8:00AM.  You guys need to be taking advantage of the opportunity while you have it!

OK, the springer fishing How-To is up.  Thanks Brian!

There's still some time to hit the Willamette fish!
