Frankly, I am not much of a boater and know very little of nautical regulations.  Anyone use them?  Are they legal?  I've seen them used for crab pots.  Okay for an anchor float?

From WDFW regs, concerning shrimp and crab pot buoys- "Buoys must be constructed of durable material (no bleach, antifreeze, detergent bottles, paint cans, etc.) and must be visible on the surface at all times..." pg. 141 in the 2008/2009 regs.

They would probably be legal for an anchor float, but if they got pulled under and crushed by pressure, they probably wouldn't float too well any more.

and besides, a bottle of bleach is about as much as a good float at the tackle shop.

I see them used for marking deadheads in the river. (You'd think the tie-dye would be enough! :D)
