Saturday was a great day for trout fishing at the local trout pond. The fish hit on the troll, rising fish hit almost every cast, they hit hard and fought and jumped all the way to the boat. I saw a couple kayakers pull up as I was getting ready to leave, don't know if they check in here, but the fishing was fantastic. Check out the blog in my sig for more photos.
On Sunday, I was checking out mountain bike trails. I stopped on the side of the main highway to talk on the phone and was checking out a pond on the side of the road when I saw a 3-5 lb. bass, probably a smallmouth, just swimming around. All I need to do is find a spot to put the kayak in the water and I'll be good to go. Think I saw a couple spots that I could launch at. There are so many great places to fish with a kayak around here, I can't believe more fishermen don't have them.
I guess the salmon fishing below Bonneville Dam is really good, but these are treacherous waters for small boats, if you are going to try for salmon here in a kayak, be very careful. Plus, with the PBers and shore fishermen, it's a real zoo.

salmon fishing below the dam shouldn't be good as it's closed.

Shad are back in town and in season though

Seems to me someone is having way more than their quota of fun.

Well, yesterday, sort of. Today I'm mowing the lawn, chopping wood, changing oil in 2 vehicles...  :P

That's why I said "I guess" the fishing was good as I did not personally go down there last weekend. The statement was based on conversations I had with my friends who were fishing for salmon over the weekend and the fish counts over the dams in this area.
I'll be more careful with what I say, or maybe I won't say anything to be on the safe side.
