Just an update: I got Tim from Standard Horizon on the phone, and he conceded that it may be a coincidental speaker failure, so I'm sending it back on warranty.
Floating, submersible, waterproof - whatever the label says, I'm bagging that bad boy from now on. I can't run the risk of it not working when I really need it!
