That is how I got my girlfriend started... we did trips down the Willamette from Salem to Wheatland and from Independence to Salem. Did that a few times and was hooked. I posted the gear list because I had quite a few folks ask how we were going to do this in a couple of yaks and some requests on what worked and didn't work. I know that before I did the trip I scoured the internet looking for folks who had done the trip in yaks and how they handled things and didn't find much of anything, so figured that as this comes up again that this would help.

Excellent write-up!  My gf and I did a mini float trip down the Willamette this last weekend, just 40 miles (Milwaukie to St Helens).  It was awesome, we had mentioned how we wanted to maybe try the john day next year, such an informative post.  Love how you included your gear list, well done man.

Great write up, Nice Pics,  it sounds like you two had a great time!

I'm jealous, my buddies and I used to float the Deschutes but never an adventure like yours!
