got my 'yak all set up for fishing now, rods&reels, fishfinder/GPS tackle etc etc.

and i think i even have a game plan but have never fished the salt before.  i have in my small but growing arsenal, an assortment of banana weights, bare mooching rigs, a 5" tomic 530G, a few Pt. Wilson darts in white, green&yellow and green glow, a couple UV coho killers, and several flavors of hoochies in green, UV and glow and a couple Konezone flashers (featured on the front page) in green and UV purple. (i'll have a handful of coyote spoons by then too and can grab some frozen herring)

so if you were out there fishing later this week, what would use to target the kings?  i'll be fishing during the tail end of an incoming tide.

Dad's big birthday BBQ with all the fam is sunday and i'd just love to surprise him with some fresh salmon for the grill.  any and all advice appreciated.  thanks all!

Study this until you know it front and back. http://www.salmonuniversity.com/pss_browns_pt.html  Might want to even print out and laminate so you can figure out where you are and what you should be doing while OTW. Good luck and looking forward to the report.

BTW is your FF mounted in that pic? If so I really like how it's set. Close but flat against the hull so it won't snag.

already read that.  been reading that site for years.  already have the pages printed out, laminated and in a 3 ring binder.  just never got a chance to use them before. had a PB for a summer but never got around to fishing with it.  great resource that site is.  i'm going to shoot for thursday or friday evening after work.  i'll definitely report back afterwards.

Did you set the rod in the holder like that so you don't bang it while paddling? Might want to leash it...

Other than that, I've no tips. Never been out on the big blue.

nah, i just had the rod in there like that for picture time.  it'll be different when i'm on the water.  i think i'm going to get an extension on it too.  it doesn't want to sit in there the way i want it to.
