Going on a scouting mission tonight.  My objective is to find a spot where I can set up my coleman canopy to keep the kids dry and a fishing spot where we can cast from the bank.

Reports say there are lots of pinks in the Carbon and I want my kids to hook into a few and enjoy themselves this weekend.  I mean pretty much Saturday through Monday on that.

If I find a good spot, and anyone is interested in joining us, I'll post breif directions and GPS coordinates.  Right now its myself, my girlfriend, and our 4 kids.  5/7/8 year old girls and a 17 month old boy.  So, a family event, but I don't care if you bring a cooler with beer, just no dumb stuff around the kiddos please   ;)

If anyone has suggestions for a spot like this that they already know of, let me hear 'em and I'll check that spot.

it's going to be tough to find any solitude down there or enough space to pop up a canopy but there are some good sized sanbars behind the water treatment plant and high school.  i think there may be space at the confluence of the Stuck & Carbon too.

The rain was the reason for the cover   :)

I found a great spot.  Nice drift between two rapids with a sand bar and large rocky area.  It's about 300 yards walk from the parking area at the end of River Avenue NE in Orting.  Very easy to get to, and a sweet view of Rainier up the river.

There was a problem though:  We fished there about 90 minutes and nothing bit.  Saw two pinks come out of the river the whole time.

We'll likely just go to the 5th street bridge in Puyallup instead.  Crowds should be thinner with the weather
