After yesterday's action casting buzz bombs I headed out this evening w/o the trolling gear on a search and destroy mission. Found a jumper and went after them fan casting in the general direction. Spent two hours and went through a bunch of fish until I got a respectable limit.

One of the coolest things I saw tonight, maybe ever fishing, was a school I came across. It was really bumpy, about 3' chop, and a wave lifted me up momentarily. It gave me a great vantage point looking down on the water around me. I looked to my right and saw a huge school running right next to me. Very humbled by that sight. So beautiful.

Put together salmon fried rice from the boiled carcasses and a Deschutes Obsidian for good measure. Stick a fork in me!

Hey Zee,

Was this out of Edmonds again?

I'm going out tonight but depends on reports from the Mukilteo group and where you were yesterday.

Thanks,

Kurt

Yep, right out front. All the PBrs were trolling for pinks and the action was slow. I only saw one netted.

Nicely done Zee!

Too bad results weren't as good for the Pinkout!  But then, that's fishing.

Thanks guys. Still more fun to be had out there. I'll be hitting it up again tomorrow at about 5:30 PM if anyone's interested.

Exactly what I was thinking!

Went out at 5:30 (Thurs.) and it was a slow one. Almost no jumpers to speak of. I did a lot of hunting and chasing and got into a few schools that were pretty fun. Fish overall weren't very aggressive and I had about 6 strikes but only 2 stuck. Finished the day w/ 2 6# pinks.

Could you post the recipe for the pink fried rice?  Actually, any good pink recipes would be nice.

I tried my standard fish + lemon juice + butter + seasoning + Grill in foil the other day, and it didn't go so well with pink salmon.  Its awesome with Trout, Silver, and Atlantic Salmon though...

Was that 5:30 AM, or PM?  I was out at Richmond Beach Thursday evening 6-7:30PM and just saw a couple jumpers, sea lions in about 500 FOW, a purse seiner off Wells Point, and a lot of fish on the fishfinder.  All levels from surface to bottom in up to 500 FOW.  I only brought a spinning rig and various BuzzBombs.  No strikes.  I went out to the area the sea lions and seiner were under the assumption they were near fish.  Fish were there, just didn't want what I offered.

I used the meat that was left over after I filleted the fish. I boiled the carcass then picked all the meat from the bones. I chopped up 2/3 cup cabbage and daikon (giant radish) and put it in the wok w/ some canola oil. Then added 2 chopped cloves of garlic and a chopped finger of ginger. Cooked until the veggies were looking like they were getting a little done and then added the 3 cups of rice, 2 table spoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce and mixed them thoroughly. Lastly I incorporated the salmon trying to coat it with all the ingredients w/o breaking it up too much. Topped it w/ a slight drizzle of sesame oil and you're done.

I also find substituting pinks for tuna when you make tuna salad works out really good too. Salmon salad sandwiches w/ avocado rock!!

Was that 5:30 AM, or PM?
