So as some of you may know all of my pertinent electronics and fishing gear got stolen out of my truck...along with half of my paddle...luckily they didn't get my mirage drive, my kayak, or my wheelez cart...they did however get the optio w60, the fishfinder, the dry top, the fishing rod, the hobie seat, and many many more things...

Long story short I will be in the market for another camera soon and happened to notice a few new waterproof cameras from pentax. I was pretty happy with the optio 60 but now they have the optio 80...anybody got any experience with it?

I'm sure olympus has probably come out with something new also but i haven't checked them yet...i don't like the idea of not using sd cards

Did anybody else make a descent waterproof camera recently that i don't know about?

Dang, sorry to hear about the loss of gear. West Seattle seems to be a rough neighborhood for that kind of thing.

Digital Photography Review has some relatively current reviews, including entries from Fuji and Canon, besides Pentax and Olympus. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209waterproofgroup/

That website rocks! So much good info for digicams. While the latest and greatest may be tempting an older one will be cheaper leaving you some extra cash to get your other gear together. BTW if you wanna fish and need some gear I'll do what I can to help.

Ya after I posted this I found that review...The last 3 cameras I have bought have pretty much gone from the reviews of dpreview.com. And I have been happy with all of them...surprisingly the new Optio W80 seems to be of lesser quality...The newer Panasonic looks good but I just can't bring myself to buy a Panasonic lol. The cannon looks best overall but is a bit bulky.

I guess its between the w60 and the cannon.

As far as fishing goes...I am almost back to working with my tool situation but still haven't received any final word from the insurance company...hope they hurry up lol

Dang, sorry to hear about the loss of gear. West Seattle seems to be a rough neighborhood for that kind of thing.

Ya I'm starting to understand that with white center a few blocks away they just come here...and besides the break ins...the drunks side swiping your vehicle seem to be a problem on the crowded streets...2 of my friends now have had there cars side swiped in the night and nobody stopped of course...

I just hope i never catch anyone actually breaking into something I own...I don't know what I would do

Really sorry to hear of your loss.  I hope the suckers hurt themselves.

For what it's worth, I am not really happy with my Olympus 550WP.  But it was cheap and good enough for the mission.
