Got out on the water about 7:30am with a commercial fisherman friend in my tandem yak. No fish showing and no action what so ever for about a half hour.
Then all of a sudden we spotted one jump about 100 yards out, we paddled out to the area and got an immediate hook up.
We spotted another school and BAM, BAM we both hook up at the same time.

This is about as easy as it gets.

By 10AM we had limited out (8 pinks) and heading back to the beach. A slight side trip on the way in as a school of Dahl porpoise surfaced all around us.
No more fish jumping once these guys show up.

Didn't see much action from the trolling boats most of the day. There was even a couple of packed charter boats in the area.

My buddy was so thrilled to be able to fight fish out the kayak, he laughed almost the whole time.
I'm sure he's another converted victim >:D

I never knew 8 fish (16 fillets) could take up so much room and prep time.
I was seriously thinking we might have to unload the boat once we caught 4 fish but the big tandem yak has a trunk on both ends. Still I was a bit worried about the extra weight (need an emoticon for very small violin)
It's also a good thing the yard waste gets picked up tomorrow morning :P

I think I have enough fish in the freezer and if I go out again I'll most likely bring the high mountain trout rod for catch and release.

I also am looking for a new solo yak. I have a test drive scheduled to try out the Hobie Revolution this Saturday on Lk Washington.

See ya all on the water,

Kurt

If you like crabs/crabbing don't chuck those! They're awesome bait. I put some carcasses aside in a gallon size ziploc in the freezer for crabbing time. One whole pink carcass rolled up in a bait bag is magic.
