The last two mornings I've been out paddling, there have been small fish-like things jumping out of the water. Yesterday morning looked like it was raining, except the droplets were coming out of the water. Any idea what I'm seeing? Couldn't get a super-close look since they jump & land so quickly, but look to be greenish & about the size of a finger.

I saw those for a spell last year.  About this time, actually.  Except my sightings were in Tillamook Bay.

Brian, up on the Columbia in your neck of the woods?  Perhaps YOY perch?  That's what comes to mind when I hear "greenish" in fresh water.

This time of year, young of the year bass, perch and walleye should all be the size of a finger and still schooling about.     My guess for the columbia gorge area would be smallmouth fingerlings.

yep, I've been on the inlet at Rock Creek, just off the Columbia mainstem at Stevenson. Little baby bass, that's cool. between the volcanic sunrise last week, and now a deluge of frog-like things, I was worried the end time were finally upon us.
